The German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) backed a 'community of the willing' approach.

AGCC is also working with the European Parliament to bring together legislators, NGOs, scientists and
business people from India and Europe to discuss its proposals.

Colloquium: "Europe faces up to climate change. A Community of the Willing: How Europe can lead the world's response to climate change?" AGCC together with ARRI (L’Association Réalités et Relations Internationales) is organising a colloquium on September 20 at the Maison de l'Europe de Paris. Roundtable discussion “Climate Change – the creation of a North-South Climate Community” AGCC and European Movement International (EMI) co-organised a roundtable discussion in the European Parliament.

The main idea behind the event is that EU should take the lead with partners in the developing world in initiating a North-South Climate Community. Such a Community would address global warming in the context of long term, sustainable development, and provide European Foreign and Security Policy with a powerful uniting leitmotiv which is sorely needed after recent setbacks to the integration process.
