Sweden kicks off EU Presidency with focus on climate change Read at The Guardian
Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt pledged to lead the effort to get the world on board for a climate change pact in Copenhagen in December. His first challenge will be to get the 27 EU member states to agree to share a bill running into many billions to assist developing countries in mitigation and adaptation.

India will reject greenhouse gas emission targets Read at Reuters
India will not sign up to targets to reduce its GHG emissions but will instead focus on fighting poverty and boosting economic growth, said the Indian Environment Minister, Jairam Ramesh, ahead of the negotiation of a climate treaty in Copenhagen in December.
